The most regulated job most homeowners ever take on

An addition starts with your survey and zoning rules like setbacks and lot coverage. Then come signed and sealed plans, HOA architectural review where it applies, and a building permit with a series of inspections.

As a state-certified building contractor we coordinate the design professionals, approvals and every trade, so you have one company to call.

Colby and his team did a great job with our home renovation! His team was professional, skilled and very detailed. Colby kept us updated on progress along with way as well as discuss and explain any roadblocks the team was facing. I appreciate that the team kept on schedule, and on budget. I've worked with several different firms and this was by far the best experience. I highly recommend them!Read full review

Colby did a great job on our home remodel. He was super communicative, professional, and really hardworking. Even on his off days, he still answered our questions and made sure we felt good about everything. I really appreciated the way he understood our vision and gave helpful insight along the way. I’d definitely recommend Colby to anyone looking for solid remodeling work.Read full review

Colby and his team couldn't have been more helpful and professional helping with our duplex renovation. It being my first reno job, Colby went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was up to speed and knew everything i needed, and helped me avoid more than a few pricey newbie mistakes. Can't say enough about the quality of their work, the quality of their team and the incredible efficiency they operate with.Read full review

Do I need a permit for a home addition?

Yes. Every addition requires a building permit with plan review and a series of inspections, typically including foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and final. A Notice of Commencement must also be recorded before the first inspection. We handle all of it.

Who designs the addition?

Additions require signed and sealed plans. We coordinate an architect or engineer to design the addition around your home and goals, then take those plans through permitting and construction.

How do zoning rules affect my addition?

Setbacks, lot coverage and height limits determine how big an addition can be and where it can go, and your HOA may add its own architectural standards. We check these against your survey before design begins, so the plans are buildable from the start.

What if my home is in a flood zone?

In a FEMA flood zone, the addition may need to meet flood elevation requirements. If the total cost of your project reaches 50 percent or more of the home’s market value, the substantial improvement rule can require the whole home to be brought up to current flood standards. We review this early so it shapes the design instead of surprising your budget.

Do I need HOA approval for an addition?

In most communities, yes. Additions change the exterior of your home, so architectural review is usually required before the permit. We prepare the submission and coordinate the review. See our Permits & HOA/Condo Approvals page.

Can you match the look of my existing home?

Yes. We match rooflines, stucco texture, windows, trim and flooring, and we plan the transition between old and new spaces so the addition feels like part of the original home.

Ready to talk through your remodel?

Tell us what you want to change. We will walk the home with you, explain what the job involves, and give you a written estimate you can actually compare.
